The short answer

Facebook ad creative costs anywhere from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars per static ad, depending on who makes it. On Fiverr, gigs for Meta ad creatives are listed from $15 to $36 each.[3] Upwork puts graphic designers at $15 to $35 an hour and marketing designers at $30 to $60.[5] Unlimited design subscriptions run from $99 a month at Feedbird to $699 at ManyPixels, $995 at Penji and $1,397 at Kimp.[11][9][10][8] Agencies that publish rates charge $150 to $500 per static, with performance creative retainers from about $5,000 a month.[12] AI ad tools cost $14 to $39 a month for a fixed allowance.[16][14]

The right number for a small business is set by volume, not by the price of one ad. Meta flags creative fatigue when an audience has seen the same creative too many times and tells you to make a new one, so an account that keeps testing needs new creatives every month, and a per-asset price that looks fine for one ad is the wrong price for ten.[1]

  • Fiverr lists Meta ad creative gigs from $15 to $36 each, and Upwork puts graphic designers at $15 to $35 an hour.
  • Unlimited design subscriptions cost $99 to $1,397 a month on their own pricing pages; Design Pickle no longer publishes a price, and Superside starts at a $15,000 monthly minimum.
  • Agencies that publish rates charge $150 to $500 per static ad, and one agency guide prices a static ad with four copy variations at $500 to $1,000.
  • AI ad tools charge $14 to $39 a month for a fixed allowance of generations, downloads or images.
  • Meta marks an ad Creative fatigue when its cost per result is at least twice that of your past ads, which is why the monthly volume, not the price of one ad, decides what creative costs you.

What does a Facebook ad cost, all in?

An ad costs three things: the media Meta charges to show it, the creative somebody made, and the tools around both. Meta’s own pricing page says “The recommended practice is to start with at least $5 for your budget and to choose a duration over six days”, and to fund a campaign for at least seven days so delivery can learn.[2] At $500 a month the media line is about $16 a day; at $5,000 it is about $167. Creative is the second line, and the only one you can shop around for. Tools are the third: a Canva Pro seat is $120 a year for one person,[15] a stock subscription such as Adobe Stock is $29.99 a month for 10 credits,[17] and the AI ad tools in the table below start at $14 a month.[16]

The mistake small accounts make is pricing creative per ad. One ad is cheap almost anywhere. The question is what a month of ads costs, because Meta’s help page says creative fatigue “occurs when an audience has seen the same creative too many times”, and its first recommendation is “Create a new ad with a new image or video that is materially different from the original creative.”[1] That makes creative a recurring line, like media, and the table below should be read that way.

What does ad creative cost by provider type?

Published prices fall into four bands. The table holds only figures read on the provider’s own page on October 7, 2026; where a provider publishes no price, it says so.[6] Few agencies publish a rate card, so the agency row cites two agencies’ own pricing guides and should be read as vendor estimates.[12][13]

Published prices for static ad creative by provider type, read October 7, 2026. Canva’s monthly price is from our September 2026 check.
Provider typePublished pricesWhat the price buys
Freelance marketplaceFiverr: Meta ad creative gigs listed from $15 to $36 each; Fiverr’s own cost guide puts the average social media design package at $35.41.[3][4] Upwork: graphic designers $15 to $35 an hour, marketing designers $30 to $60.[5]One design per gig or per hour. Sizes, copy and revision rounds vary seller to seller.
Design subscriptionFeedbird static ads from $99 a month.[11] ManyPixels Advanced $699 a month.[9] Penji Essentials $995 a month.[10] Kimp Graphics $1,397 a month.[8] Design Pickle: “You get the number on the call.”[6] Superside: Flex plans from a $15,000 monthly minimum plus a $1,000 software fee, on a 12-month term.[7]A queue your team briefs. Unlimited requests, worked a few at a time, with next-day or 24-hour first drafts.
Creative agencyDarkroom’s guide: $150 to $500 per static asset, or retainers of $5,000 to $15,000 a month, the starter tier covering 15 to 25 static assets.[12] inBeat’s guide: one static ad design with four copy variations, $500 to $1,000.[13]Strategy, concepting and production. One round of revisions per asset at the starter tier.[12]
AI ad toolPencil Core $14 a month for 50 generations.[16] AdCreative.ai Starter $39 a month for 10 credits, one credit per download.[14] Canva Pro $120 a year for one person ($18 billed monthly).[15] Showfolk from $29.99 a month for 120 images (pricing).Software. You give the brief and choose the winner; the tool draws, letters and sizes.

Whichever row you pick, brief it by trade. The ads-for pages for real estate and coffee shops list the ideas, offers and photos a brief should carry, which is the same list a freelancer or an agency would ask you for.

What does volume do to the math?

A small account that tests needs roughly 8 to 12 new static creatives a month. That is our view, not a Meta figure, and the reasoning runs like this. Meta’s delivery status turns to “Creative limited” when an ad’s cost per result rises above your past ads, and to “Creative fatigue” when it reaches twice as much, and at both points the recommendation is a new ad with a materially different image.[1] If two or three ads are live at once, each is replaced every three or four weeks, and each test round adds three to five contenders, the month lands near ten. How long to run an ad before judging it is in our post on frequency and ad fatigue, and how many to test at once is in how many ad creatives to test. Each concept also needs a feed version and a story version; the sizes guide has the pixels.

Ten new static creatives a month, each in a feed and a story size, priced at each provider type from the published figures above. Hours per creative are our assumption.
Provider typePublished priceTen creatives a monthPer creative
Fiverr gigFrom $15 to $36 per design$150 to $360, before any resize or revision the gig does not include$15 to $36
Upwork hourly$15 to $60 an hour$225 to $900 at 1.5 hours per creative including the resize$23 to $90
Design subscription$99 to $1,397 a monthThe flat fee; ten requests fit a three-active-request queue in a month$10 to $140
Agency per asset$150 to $500 per static; $500 to $1,000 with copy variations$1,500 to $10,000$150 to $1,000
AI ad toolPencil $14 for 50 generations; AdCreative.ai $39 for 10 downloads; Showfolk $29.99 for 120 images$14 to $39; ten ads at Showfolk are 40 images, each ad already in feed and story versions28¢ a generation; $3.90 a download; about 25¢ an image

Showfolk is the subscription end of this table: from $29.99 a month, every ad comes back as four versions sized for feed and story. The per-creative column is the one to watch: at ten a month the tools and the agencies are three orders of magnitude apart, with the resize and revision costs below still to come.

What are the hidden costs?

Four costs are missing from most quotes: resizes, revisions, rush and stock. Resizes come first. One concept has to be cut for the feed and for Stories and Reels, and DesignPal, a design subscription, puts it plainly: “One ad concept adapted across all these formats becomes 8-12 individual creative files. At $200 per creative through an agency, one concept across all formats costs $1,600-$2,400.”[18] Ask whether a price is per concept or per file, and which sizes are in it. Feedbird says “All platform sizes included”; a Fiverr gig may include one.[11][3]

8 to 12
Files one concept becomes across placements, per DesignPal’s estimate[18]
$50 to $100
Per extra revision round beyond the one or two included, per DesignPal’s estimate[18]
50 to 100%
Rush premium when a deadline is tight or a retainer’s cap is passed, per luup’s estimate[19]

Revisions come second: per-creative prices include one or two rounds, and copy is sometimes a separate line at $50 to $150 per variation.[18] Rush is third: luup, a creative agency, describes the premium on fast turnarounds and on work beyond a retainer’s cap.[19] Stock photos are fourth. Adobe Stock’s smallest plan is $29.99 a month for 10 credits, one per standard image,[17] while Kimp bundles stock images into its fee.[8] Last, “unlimited” has a shape: Kimp says “unlimited does not mean unlimited instant deliveries” and works three requests at a time,[8] and ManyPixels’ $699 plan is “1 Daily output”.[9]

How should you decide by monthly ad spend?

Our rule is that creative should stay well under the media line, because an ad that costs more to make than to show has no room to be tested. Here is how that plays out at three budgets; it is our view, not a benchmark.

  1. 1

    $500 a month

About $16 a day of media, which Meta’s $5 starting budget and seven-day learning advice stretch across one or two ad sets at most.[2] Make the ads yourself with Canva or an AI tool at $14 to $39 a month,[16][14] or buy one marketplace gig for a hero ad.[3] Two to four new creatives a month is enough. A $699 subscription would exceed the media budget.[9]
  2. 2

    $1,500 a month

About $50 a day. Two or three ads live, 8 to 12 new creatives a month. An AI tool covers the volume for $14 to $39, and a Fiverr or Upwork designer can add one considered concept a month for $15 to $90.[16][5] Creative lands at $30 to $300, a tenth of media or less. A $699 to $1,397 subscription is half the media line or more, which is too much at this spend.[9][8]
  3. 3

    $5,000 a month

About $167 a day, and 12 to 20 new creatives a month to keep two or three ad sets fresh. A $699 to $995 subscription is 14 to 20 percent of media and gives you a human queue;[9][10] an AI tool plus a freelancer does the same job for under $200. Agency per-asset work, at $150 to $1,000 a static, suits one hero concept a quarter, and a $5,000 retainer would equal the media budget, so not yet.[12][13]

What do you give up at each price?

Every band buys something and gives something up, and the cheap bands trade away judgement while the expensive ones trade away volume. The table puts the four side by side.

What each price band buys and what it costs you in other ways. Prices from the sources above; the trade-offs are our reading.
Price bandWhat you getWhat you give up
$14 to $39 a month: Canva, AI ad toolsVolume, speed, every size, a new version in minutesSomeone else’s judgement; your own hours on Canva; brand consistency depends on how well the tool reads your brand
$15 to $90 per ad: marketplacesA human designer, one ad at a time, at a price you can seeDays of turnaround; sizes and revisions vary by gig; quality varies seller to seller
$99 to $1,397 a month: subscriptionsA queue, unlimited requests, next-day drafts, a team that learns your brandYou write every brief; a few requests at a time; the fee is fixed whether you use it or not
$150 to $1,000 per ad, or $5,000 and up a month: agenciesStrategy, concepting, production and a point of viewCost rises with every variation; starter tiers include one revision round; the volume that beats fatigue is most expensive here

For a small account the middle of the table is the uncomfortable part: subscriptions are built for teams with a steady stream of briefs, and agencies for brands whose media budget dwarfs the creative line. The low band is where most accounts under $5,000 a month belong, provided the tool keeps the brand straight. The Showfolk AI ad generator reads your website for fonts and colors, letters the headline as a real layer, and returns every ad in feed and story sizes, so the resize line above is already in the $29.99.

Questions people ask

How much does a single Facebook ad design cost?
A single static ad design is listed from about $15 to $36 on Fiverr, and Upwork designers charge $15 to $60 an hour. Agencies that publish rates charge $150 to $500 per static, or $500 to $1,000 with four copy variations. The low figures usually cover one size and one or two revision rounds.
How much do agencies charge for ad creative?
Darkroom’s published guide puts performance creative retainers at $5,000 to $15,000 a month, the starter tier covering 15 to 25 static assets, or $150 to $500 per static bought singly. inBeat’s guide prices one static ad with four copy variations at $500 to $1,000. Most agencies publish no rate card, so these are vendor estimates, not a market survey.
Is an unlimited design subscription worth it for Facebook ads?
It depends on your briefing volume and media budget. Subscriptions cost $99 a month at Feedbird, $699 at ManyPixels, $995 at Penji and $1,397 at Kimp, and unlimited means a queue worked a few requests at a time, not instant delivery. At $5,000 a month of ad spend a $699 plan is about 14 percent of media; at $1,500 it is nearly half.
How many ad creatives does a small business need each month?
Our view is 8 to 12 new static creatives a month for an account running two or three ads at once. Meta flags Creative limited when an ad’s cost per result rises above your past ads and Creative fatigue when it doubles, and recommends a new ad with a materially different image, so each live ad is replaced every few weeks and each test round adds three to five contenders.
Are AI ad tools cheaper than a freelancer?
Per file, yes. Pencil’s Core plan is $14 a month for 50 generations, AdCreative.ai’s Starter is $39 for 10 downloads, and Showfolk starts at $29.99 for 120 images, about 25 cents each. A Fiverr gig starts at $15 to $36 per design. A tool does not give you a second person’s judgement, so many small accounts use a tool for volume and a freelancer for one considered concept a month.
What does Showfolk cost per ad?
Showfolk starts at $29.99 a month for 120 images, about 25 cents an image. Every ad comes back as four versions sized for feed and story, so a month of ten new ads uses 40 images and leaves the rest for edits and further tests. Plans begin with a three-day free trial.
