What eats a salon’s ad budget.

Three things that go wrong with salon ads, and what Showfolk does about each one.
  1. 01 · THE PROBLEM

Open chairs on Saturday, and no way to fill them.

An empty chair is lost for good, and a post to followers reaches people who already book.

    THE FIX

An “open chairs” ad in your brand in about a minute, shown to people a few miles away who don’t follow you yet.

  2. 02 · THE PROBLEM

Your work is great. The ad for it isn’t.

    A screenshot with a drop-shadowed “Book now” undersells a $200 color.

    THE FIX

Start from a beauty brand’s winning ad: their layout and type, your cut in the frame.

  3. 03 · THE PROBLEM

Instagram takes an hour a day.

An hour behind the chair is worth more than an hour in Canva.

    THE FIX

Photo slideshows for TikTok and Instagram, planned and written for you from your own photos.

Proven ad in. Your ad out.

Nothing is copied. The reference becomes a written brief about layout, lighting and mood; its product and brand stay out, and every output is checked for them.

5 ads a salon could run this week.

One ad, one message each. Run two or three at once and keep the one that works. The headlines are for a made-up business; use your own words, prices and reviews.
  • 1. The work itself

    “Lived-in blonde by Mia”

Show: A finished cut or color, well lit, from your own chair.

  • 2. Open chairs

“Two openings Saturday. Book in 30 seconds.”

Show: The chair and the dates.

  • 3. The new-client offer

“First cut $25 for new clients”

Show: The space, bright and welcoming.

  • 4. Stylist spotlight

“Meet Jordan: fades, tapers and beard work”

Show: One stylist, one sentence about what they love doing.

  • 5. Retail

“The shampoo we use, now on the shelf”

Show: The products you sell, as a clean product shot.

  • Make one of these now.

Your website in, four versions out, in about a minute.

The salon cheat sheet.

Which offers to make, what to photograph (phone photos are fine near a window in daylight), when to run new ads, and what to leave out.
  • Offers that work

    • A new-client price
    • A referral reward for both people
    • A package, such as cut plus color
    • A retail discount with a service
  • Photos to take

    • Finished work from your own clients, with permission
    • Each stylist, in the salon
    • The space when it looks its best
    • Products on the shelf
  • When to run new ads

    • Before prom and wedding season
    • Back to school
    • The weeks before the holidays
    • Any week with open chairs
  • Don’t

    • Photos of work that is not yours.
    • A booking link that goes to your homepage instead of the booking page.
    • Posting the same cut photo every week.

Does Meta have rules for salon ads?

Meta’s health and appearance policy makes an exception for non-permanent beauty such as cosmetics and hair extensions: they may show a before and after, as long as the ad does not shame the “before”. A cut or color is usually treated the same way, but reviewers vary, so keep the result as the focus.

How do I make one in a minute?

  1. 1

    Type your website

Your logo, colors, fonts and photos are pulled into a brand kit. You do this once.

  2. 2

    Get a finished ad

Showfolk picks an ad a major brand is running in a category like yours, writes a headline from your site and rebuilds the ad around a salon. Four versions, in about a minute.

  3. 3

    Change anything by pointing

Click a spot, say what should change there, and everything else stays as it was. Then download it.

Questions

Do salons need Facebook ads, or is Instagram enough?
Posting keeps existing followers happy; ads reach people nearby who do not follow you yet. They are bought together in Meta Ads Manager.
Can I show before-and-after hair photos?
Usually, as long as the ad does not mock the “before”. Meta allows it for non-permanent beauty; keep the result as the focus.
What is the best first ad for a new stylist?
A spotlight on the stylist with a new-client price for their chair.
