What eats a gym’s ad budget.

Three things that go wrong with gym ads, and what Showfolk does about each one.
  1. 01 · THE PROBLEM

Every gym’s ad says “join now”.

The one with the better picture wins the month.

    THE FIX

Start from the fitness ads big brands keep running: their hook and layout, your floor and your members.

  2. 02 · THE PROBLEM

A studio opened across the road.

Their founding-member offer reaches your members.

    THE FIX

Name them once. Showfolk watches their Meta ads and writes your answer the week they change.

  3. 03 · THE PROBLEM

Members post the gym better than the gym does.

Your feed is a logo and a schedule.

    THE FIX

Slideshows from your own photos, planned and written for TikTok and Instagram.

Proven ad in. Your ad out.

Nothing is copied. The reference becomes a written brief about layout, lighting and mood; its product and brand stay out, and every output is checked for them.

The gym cheat sheet.

Which offers to make, what to photograph (phone photos are fine near a window in daylight), when to run new ads, and what to leave out.
  • Offers that work

    • A free class or free week
    • A founding or intro membership price
    • A bring-a-friend week
    • A challenge with a start date
  • Photos to take

    • Classes in action, from real sessions
    • Each coach
    • The space when it is full
    • Equipment details that show quality
  • When to run new ads

    • January, the biggest month for new members
    • Late summer, before routines restart
    • Before a challenge’s start date
    • Spring, before summer plans
  • Don’t

    • Before-and-after body photos.
    • Stock photos of models instead of your members.
    • Copy that points at a flaw instead of a goal.

Does Meta have rules for gym ads?

Yes. Meta treats fitness and weight-loss offers as personal health and appearance, and its health and wellness policy applies:

  • Target people 18 and older.
  • No before-and-after pictures that imply an unlikely result, and nothing that makes people feel bad about how they look now.
  • Sell the experience and the outcome in plain words, not a “perfect” body or face.

Ads that break these rules are rejected, and repeated rejections can restrict the ad account. Check Meta’s current wording before a campaign; it changes.

How do I make one in a minute?

  1. 1

  3. 3

    Change anything by pointing

Click a spot, say what should change there, and everything else stays as it was. Then download it.

Questions

Can a gym show before-and-after photos in Facebook ads?
Treat the answer as no. Meta does not allow before-and-after images that imply unlikely results, especially for weight loss.
What is the best offer for a gym ad?
A free or low-cost first visit. The room and the coaches sell the membership once people are inside.
Who should a gym target?
Adults within a short drive. Weight-loss offers must target 18 and older.
